About Us

The Miss Kappa Alpha Psi Scholarship Pageant was created by the Gamma Chi Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated in honor of the female students on the campus of Savannah State University, to provide scholarships to the contestants and additional resources to help out with their undergraduate continuance. The Miss Kappa Alpha Psi Scholarship Pageant is hosted to spotlight women who have achieved excellence in academics, leadership, campus and community involvement and overall character presentation. The pageant itself gives the contestants an opportunity to portray their talent, beauty, character, intellect, and much more.

The Miss Kappa Alpha Psi Scholarship Pageant establishes the initiative to encourage and support the contestants in completing their college education and earning a graduate degree. In addition, to increasing access to higher education for these women, the Miss Kappa Alpha Psi Scholarship Pageant also provides leadership training. Through participation in comprehensive leadership programs, the contestants are able to enhance their academic and leadership skills, which will prepare them to assume important roles in their professions within their communities.

Gamma Chi’s goal for the scholarship pageant is to treat every contestant as more than a number or an entry and with the respect and kindness she deserves. It takes a lot of time to prepare for a pageant and without supportive family, friends, and sponsors it would be impossible to put together the full package necessary to compete. On your quest for the crown, we want every aspect of your experience with this pageant to be a positive one. Therefore, your participation in this pageant is an honor in itself. With that in mind, we encourage all contestants to make this a time of fun and enjoyment and not just a competition.

Lastly, we hope that this will be a delightful experience for each young lady and we encourage all contestants to do their best. All contestants are viewed with high esteem and are expected to represent the pageant and the chapter with tasteful and respectable qualities throughout all events.
